Cardinal Pizzaballa launches “Within Your Gates” forum on Jerusalem’s vocation to peace

On September 7, 2026, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, launched “Within Your Gates: The Forum for the Universal Vocation of Jerusalem” at the University of Notre Dame’s Jerusalem center on the Tantur campus. Vatican News reported the launch on September 9. The forum is a partnership of the Latin Patriarchate and Notre Dame Jerusalem. Daniel Schwake, director of Notre Dame Jerusalem, leads it. Former Al-Quds University president Sari Nusseibeh and Hebrew University scholar Sarah Stroumsa were among those who spoke, Vatican News said. Schwake said the platform is not proposing political solutions; it aims at shared study and a search for language.
