Nigerian outlets citing community leaders reported at least nine people killed in separate attacks across Barkin Ladi, Riyom, and nearby communities in Plateau State between the night of Saturday, September 19, 2026, and Sunday morning, Legit.ng, The Sun Nigeria, and Vanguard said. Those accounts, citing Pyem youth leader Ukasha Garaba, said five of the dead were passengers travelling as laborers whose bodies were recovered near Gana-Ropp in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area after a Saturday-night attack. Two others, including a pastor who was not named in the opened wires, were reportedly killed while heading to church at Dorowa Bubuje — also styled Dorowa Babuje — on Sunday morning. The Sun and Legit.ng also reported a woman killed at Baten Wereng in Riyom Local Government Area and another death at Ratyidi in Fan District. Those are community-sourced counts. On Sunday, Vanguard reported, women and children were being evacuated from Dorowa Bubuje in Barkin Ladi after residents said gunfire continued from the direction of Kantoma. Rwang Tengwong, spokesman of the Berom Youth Moulders, said military personnel had been sent to the community and asked for a sustained security presence. Separately, The Sun and Legit.ng reported a parallel claim from Gambo Abubakar, Barkin Ladi secretary of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, that several cattle were killed or stolen at Dorowa Maranba and the Kantoma axis about 3 a.m. Sunday. That cattle report sits beside the death tallies as a parallel claim, not as an explanation of the killings.
The opened accounts leave a framing gap: community leaders supplied the death counts and locations, while police confirmation and an official motive were absent from those wires. The pastor was unnamed.
