Early Monday September 7, attackers hit Nzangula village in Adamawa’s Gombi Local Government Area. Local government chair Markus Ishaya, speaking by telephone to The Punch, said reports from the village put the toll at 12 dead and two injured, with the injured treated at Cottage Hospital in Gombi, and one woman abducted.
Ishaya said an EYN church was burned along with three houses, and two shops were vandalized. Anonymous residents told The Punch that attackers they identified as Boko Haram shot people and set houses ablaze; one said search teams were looking for others after bodies were recovered. The Punch reported that state police spokesperson SP Suleiman Nguroje did not answer calls or messages seeking confirmation.
